Twenty-eight-year-old Maggie Sparkes arrives in New York City to pack up what’s left of her best friend’s belongings after a suicide that has left everyone stunned. The police have deemed the evidence conclusive: Celine got into bed, downed a bottle of Xanax and a handle of Maker’s Mark, and never woke up. But when Maggie discovers secrets in the childhood lock box hidden in Celine’s apartment, she begins asking questions. Questions about the man Celine fell in love with. The man she never told anyone about, not even Maggie. The man who Celine herself claimed would be her ruin.
On the hunt for answers that will force the police to reopen the case, Maggie uncovers more than she bargained for about Celine’s private life-and inadvertently puts herself on the radar of a killer who will stop at nothing to keep his crimes undiscovered.

LOOT CRATE QUEST BOX & WHAT I THINK

Little story: I was on Facebook, like always, and there was an ad for Loot Crate. The ad said EXCLUSIVE LABYRINTH SHIRT. I started screaming and running to my parents. After some Rockette kicking and climbing, I got to order The Quest Box. Dun Dun Dun.

RE-EXPERIENCING VAMPIRE ACADEMY

I decided to pick up Vampire Academy after seeing the movie adaptation the night before. I wanted to reacquaint myself with the world, characters, relationships and "mythology". In other words, I wanted to meet Dimitri again, lol. I watched the movie, which goes against the book lover code, before I read the book. It's not that great of an adaptation by the way.

MUSIC MONDAYS: TWENTY ØNE PILØTS

MUSIC MONDAYS: THE STRUTS

I discovered this band after receiving an email from Pandora about must-hear emerging artists. They're unabashedly over the top, retro fetishist, classic rockers from England. Their lead singer Luke Spiller is a cross between Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Robert Plant. (Spotify description)

I really love this band. I love their classic rock sound because I love Bowie and Queen, Bowie especially. They have such a fun, party vibe going on, but they also have slightly somber pieces on this album. Roll Up, Could Have Been Me, Mary Go Around, The Ol' Switcheroo, She Makes Me Feel, Young Stars, Black Swan, These Times Are Changing, and Where Did She Go are some of my favorite tracks. Basically, this whole album is amazing.

War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it with untrustworthy new allies and the empire as his enemy. Though he has convinced himself that he no longer loves Kestrel, Arin hasn’t forgotten her, or how she became exactly the kind of person he has always despised. She cared more for the empire than she did for the lives of innocent people-and certainly more than she did for him.
At least, that’s what he thinks.
In the frozen north, Kestrel is a prisoner in a brutal work camp. As she searches desperately for a way to escape, she wishes Arin could know what she sacrificed for him. She wishes she could make the empire pay for what they’ve done to her.
But no one gets what they want just by wishing.
As the war intensifies, both Kestrel and Arin discover that the world is changing. The East is pitted against the West, and they are caught in between. With so much to lose, can anybody really win?
