THE GOOD STUDENT: BINGE-WATCHES SEX AND THE CITY INSTEAD OF STUDYING FOR FINALS

I constantly say I hate watching TV shows, but here I am reviewing another "cult classic" show. Like Gossip Girl, I have complicated feelings. 

ENJOYING TV FOR ONCE

As someone that has boldly claimed to hate TV and prefer movies over in this post, I would like to take back my words because I have recently and immensely enjoyed one, and I mildly enjoyed another one, but we'll get to that later. 

TOSS A COIN TO YOUR OUTLIER

The Witcher appeared everywhere on social media and real-life: Geralt's bath scene, toss your coin to your witcher song, Jaskier and Geralt's bromance, and conversations with people. I avoided watching this show because I am not a fan of shows; I prefer movies because they're shorter and less of a commitment. Also, everyone kept comparing this show to Game of Thrones. I don't hate the latter; I'm just not a die-hard fan. 

XOXO, GOSSIP GIRL

I missed out on a lot of teenage shows because I was preoccupied watching Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows. I remember my sister kicking me out of the living room so she could watch The Vampire Diaries, which is one of my least favorite shows. Anyway, Gossip Girl is my newest obsession, and my sister gave me flack for being late to the bandwagon. The speed at which I finished all six seasons is terrifying and awe-inducing (this show took over my life.) 

THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY

I posted a comic review before the show aired and it's one of my most viewed posts, you can check it out HERE. I've put off watching the series because I wasn't a fan of the comic, I said I wasn't going to, and I didn't have a Netflix account. What's the point of me watching it if I hated it? After hearing my friends rave about the series, and getting my friend's Netflix account, I wanted to. 

Predictions before watching:

1) I'll probably hate Luther, Allison, and Vanya in the show because I hated them in the series.

2) I'll probably love Klaus because he was my favorite character in the series. Plus, Robert Sheehan!
3) I don't think I'll like it much until the end of the series.

SHOW RECS, SORTA

I love finding new and weird books, television shows, movies, and miscellaneous objects. End of the F***ing World surpassed my expectations. The show is Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom meets Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. The plot and dialogue were outrageous and absurd, Anderson's style down to the dog. The show also has grunge, grime, and filth too, Tarantino's style. I love the juxtaposition of the characters too-James is lanky, awkward, secretive, "closet-psychopath" and adorably (because he's so awkward) fascinating; Alyssa is loud, crass, and offensive. Their unexpected dynamic was a joy to watch, which is how I ended up finishing the season in one sitting. I loved getting to know their backstory, getting to know them, and seeing the adventures they go on. Little side note, I love how their color schemes switch. Alyssa is first seen wearing bold red, and James wears muted colors. Once they go on the road, Alyssa looks like an older version of Eleven, and James opts for a red Hawaiian shirt. I CANNOT WAIT FOR SEASON 2. 

SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS SHOW REVIEW

If you're like me, you've read The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket as a child and it's very precious to you. It was thrown at me by my sister and it encouraged me to read more. I loved the books because it was dark, informative, entertaining and easy to read. I would make my mother take me to the library, borrow 5 books at once and finish them in a week. After reading up on the series, it's wickedly smart. I would not have been able pick up those allusions and comprehend the story in its entirety as a child. The series can be enjoyed by people of all ages!

The television adaptation definitely reignited my love for this series, but the adaptation was another installment in The Series of Unfortunate Adaptations. I think I'm the only one that didn't enjoy it because I've seen glowing reviews everywhere.

ASFKDJ | THE 100 SEASON 1&2

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll probably see a lot of tweets related to The 100. (Mainly Bellarke related stuff #BellarkeTrash) I binged the first two seasons and I love it. The 100 is an: Action, Drama, Utopian, Dystopian, Post-Apocalyptic, and Sci-Fi show on The CW network. A nuclear Armageddon destroyed civilization on Earth. The 12 international space stations joined up to form The Ark. After a few generations, The Ark begins to deteriorate and the supplies dwindle. The Ark decides to send 100 juvenile delinquents to the radiation soaked Earth. The show follows Clarke and her struggle to create/maintain unity and peace despite the wars and hardships on Earth.

I'm going to separate this post into two parts. The stuff before 'read more' will be my general thoughts on the show and after 'read more' will be my "nerdy criticism" on what happens on the show. (Mainly science related things. Gotta get your science right!)

So, *inhales deeply*

This show is Game of Thrones, but BETTER! Now some of you are saying, "Nothing is better than GoT, take that back!" I'm serious, this show is better! It has mostly the same content as GoT, but it's "appropriate" for younger audiences and much more exciting. It's not full of sex, so I can actually watch this on TV without making it awkward! There's also fighting, some political intrigue and (maybe) more character deaths than GoT. I enjoyed the Sci-Fi aspect of The 100 immensely, for the most part (click 'read more').

The 100 is exciting, but it should have a little bit more gore and some cursing, just saying. It has a really interesting plot and the story stands out amongst other TV shows. I love how there were many twists and turns and millions of character deaths. The show keeps you on your toes and makes you go Cot dammit Elizabeth, did that really happen?!?!?! The show also has an amazing cast of characters. Clarke is a bad b*tch. She developed into such a strong, take-charge person. She's such a great leader and she made many difficult decisions. Sometimes shit hits the fan, sometimes it doesn't. There's also Octavia, Raven, Lexa, Indra and Anya... Honestly, this show has a lot of bad ass women! There are female LEADERS!!!!

There's also Bellamy.

This show knows how to play with your feelings. The people behind this show know how to make you hate/love people. Although this show is super great, I thought the lighting kind of ruined it. The frames were too dark sometimes and it was hard to make out what's going on. There were grammar issues too, says the girl with horrible grammar. I would have liked a better transition between the seasons. I felt like some info was missing.

Other than that, I think that's pretty much it. This show is great! I totally advise you to watch it on Netflix. If you don't have Netflix, ask a friend like I did.

GAME OF THRONES

I started watching this show because I was really bored during spring break. Now you're wondering, why don't you read books then? Well, I don't feel like reading. I don't have the patience, nor the energy to be engrossed in a book because of my book slump. I just read some kickass NA Mysteries/Thrillers! So, I turned to the debauchery in Game of Thrones for entertainment.

Yes, I know I'm late with the whole AHS review. I just finished watching it and I'm trying to delay writing my AP essay.

Scream Queens

     I was really excited for this show because
A) This show comes from the minds of Glee AND American Horror Story. These are some of my favorite television shows.
B) It's horror. I don't know why, but I've been obsessed with horror lately.
C) The cast! JAMIE LEE CURTIS! Her mother was in Psycho, PSYCHO!!!!!
