BOOK COVERS

"Don't judge a book by its cover."

I'm sure you heard this at least once in our life and I'm sure you ignored it. I certainly have. When you're looking for books online or perusing your bookstore, a book with a great cover captures your attention. You click on it/take it off the shelf, read what it's about and you sample it. A book cover is so important-it does more than covering a book.

Almost every book cover relates to what the book is about. Maybe it's an object from the book or an idea. It provides a little insight. Sometimes it's in your face and incredibly literal or it's subtle and abstract. I'm going to mention some of my favorite covers because I'm vain and appearances mean a lot to me.

WHAT TO GET FOR THAT SPECIAL NERD IN YOUR LIFE

It's almost Valentines Day. Roses/Flowers, giant teddy bears where do you even put that? and chocolates are great, but I think these items are better. (I am not being sponsored by any of these shops. I only mentioned them because I thought they were cute.)

If you click on most of the images, they will lead you to the store.

My friend has a Celaena Sardothien bookmark from this store and I was so fascinated by it. It's basically a really cute, magnetic clip. The shop has all types of book characters, TV show characters, and miscellaneous things. It might be difficult finding a certain character because their product name is different.

LITTLE BOOK REVIEW

Poison Study (Study #1)
Maria V. Snyder
October 1, 2005 | Mira
Choose: A quick death…Or slow poison...
About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace-and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.
And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust-and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison.
As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can't control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren't so clear...
I was compelled to pick this book up because I saw so many updates in my goodreads feed. I decided to do some research and by research, I mean stalk its goodreads page. Almost all of my goodreads friends and my favorite reviewers gave it 3 or plus stars. Khanh gave it 5 stars, so it MUST be amazing. If Khanh gives a book 5 stars, it probably shits: rainbows, unicorns and holo glitter.
